BOOK A CATEGORY 1 RAIL MEDICAL

Category 1 Rail Medical Services

Overview

Our Category 1 Rail Medical Certification is designed for rail safety personnel engaged in critical safety operations where health-related incapacitation could lead to severe incidents impacting public welfare or railway infrastructure integrity. This represents the most comprehensive level of medical clearance available for railway workers.

Under Australia’s National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers, a severe incident encompasses accidents or events affecting public safety or railway operations that may result in fatalities, serious injuries requiring hospitalization, major collisions or derailments causing substantial damage, or significant infrastructure destruction.

We ensure all railway worker health evaluations comply fully with the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers guidelines.

Comprehensive Medical Evaluation

Our Category 1 Rail Medical certification encompasses a thorough assessment including:

  • Hearing Assessment – Complete audiometric testing to evaluate auditory function
  • Visual Acuity Testing – Comprehensive eye examination and vision screening
  • Physical Capability Assessment – Detailed musculoskeletal evaluation
  • Health History Review – Comprehensive medical background assessment
  • Clinical Examination – Complete physical medical evaluation
  • Cardiac Screening – Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing
  • Metabolic Health Testing – Non-fasting lipid analysis via blood work
  • Diabetes Screening – Non-fasting HbA1c blood testing

For initial placements or risk category changes, drug screening may be required based on local legislation and individual operator policies. Optional instant drug and alcohol testing is available upon request for an additional fee.
