BOOK A CATEGORY 2 RAIL MEDICAL
Our Category 2 Rail Medical examinations are designed for rail industry professionals engaged in safety-critical roles. These comprehensive health assessments ensure workers maintain the physical and mental capacity required for positions where personal fitness is essential for workplace safety, though sudden health issues would not directly threaten public safety or rail network operations.
This medical certification applies to roles demanding high levels of concentration and alertness, such as Signal Operators, Train Control personnel, and platform-based workers. While these positions are vital to rail operations, the nature of the work means that unexpected health incidents pose minimal risk to broader network safety.
Our rail medical assessments strictly adhere to Australia’s National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers, ensuring comprehensive compliance across all jurisdictions.
Comprehensive Medical Evaluation
Each Category 2 Rail Medical assessment encompasses a thorough evaluation including:
- Hearing Assessment – Professional audiometric testing to ensure adequate auditory function
- Visual Acuity Testing – Comprehensive eye examinations to verify visual standards
- Physical Capability Screening – Musculoskeletal assessment to confirm physical fitness requirements
- Health History Review – Detailed examination of medical background and current health status
- Clinical Physical Examination – Complete medical assessment by qualified healthcare professionals
- Urinalysis – Glucose screening to identify potential health concerns
For initial placements or when transitioning between risk categories, additional screening may be required, including substance testing as mandated by state regulations and individual rail operator policies. Optional instant drug and alcohol testing is available upon request for an additional fee.
